| By
now, most fans out there know about 'Beta' versions of
the Resident Evil games. Unlike others, the very first
Resident Evil for Sony Playstation didn't have an entirely
new story or appearance. Capcom simply improved the game
from the beginning to what we see now in the final version.
You notice things like enemies in different areas, Kenneth's
body on the other side of the Mansion, Item Menu changes
and of course the graphical and sound differences.
There
where different puzzles, enemies that didn't make it to
the final version, characters that didn't make it to the
final version and most interesting... the game original
planned to be played in First-Person view. Shinji Mikami
(creator) then decided to go with the 3D enviornment.
Another
very interesting detail Capcom decided to change was the
2 player mode controlled by the CCU. As seen below, the
user takes control of Chris as Jill proceeds to go through
the hall controlled by the CCU! We do not know whether
or not another player could control Player 2. You can
also notice Jill's original 'look' in these images below.

To
make the game alittle more Zombie like, the color
Green was orignially what
you saw when blood came out.
Again,
we see Capcom changed games from prototype to beta version's
to what we see play today. Its always cool to see what
their ideas where before the final version came out. Here
you will be able to see what ideas Capcom had with the
development of Resident Evil before the release of the
game in March '96. |
